The starting point

A September morning 2019 in Traben-Trabach. In this beautiful little town at the river Mosel hundreds of policemen, a special unit of the police and helicopters began a search in a former Bundeswehr bunker. During this search the police arrested nine people. The arrested people ran a data centre for the darknet in this bunker. On four subterranean floors the police found 886 physical und virtual servers with 2 Million gigabyte.

The trial

A few weeks ago the trial against these defendants started in Trier. The district attorney charges the defendants with acting as an accessory to 249,000 crimes. The district attorneys have detected more than 240,000 purchases of drugs over this data centre.

The police started back in 2015 to observe the main defendant, a dutch citizen. He is accused to have bought this bunker in 2013 and to have built up the data centre. His two sons are also involved. Like in every normal company different persons had different tasks and responsibilities. Other defendants worked as accountant or marketing manager within this darknet company.
